Our verdict

The CG 150 costs Rs 459,900 (Red Rs 449,900) and the GS 150 Rs 399,900. Both have about 150cc, 5 gears and self-start. The CG 150 adds a front disc with a combined braking system, alloy wheels, an SOHC engine with a balancer, published figures of 11.9 PS and 12.5 Nm, and 171 mm ground clearance. The GS 150 has drum brakes at both ends, spoke wheels and 155 mm ground clearance; Suzuki publishes no power figure.

The GS 150 has a slightly bigger tank (12.0 vs 11.4 litres) and PakWheels lists better fuel economy for it (45 vs 35 km/l), though neither figure is official. Honda's dealer network and resale are stronger.

The front disc and newer engine make the CG 150 our pick for most buyers. If Rs 60,000 matters more, the GS 150 is still a capable, torquey 150.

Our pick

Honda CG 150

Its front disc with CBS, newer engine and Honda resale justify the extra Rs 60,000 for most riders.

Specs side by side

A value is marked only where better is clear-cut — a lower price, more cc, a bigger tank, more claimed km/l, more ground clearance, a higher rating, disc over drum, self start over kick — and only when the gap is big enough for a rider to notice. Differences too small to feel, like a cc or two or a tenth of a rating point, are left unmarked. “—” means the figure is not published.
