Who writes our guides
Every guide on this site is written and checked by Rooh Ullah of Bike Markaz, and is signed with his name. When a guide gives advice, it is the shop giving it, and the shop answers for it.
We sell many of the products we write about, so we have a commercial interest in them, and guides that compare our own stock say so. Where another model or another seller is the better fit for a rider, the guide says that too.
Where prices come from
- Our own prices are taken from our catalogue, the same one checkout charges from, on the date shown as the guide's 'Updated' date.
- Product pages always show the live price and stock. If a guide and a product page ever disagree, the product page is right, and we update the guide.
- Prices of things we do not sell, such as motorcycles or other brands' models, come from the maker's official price list or another named source, with the date we checked it.
- A brand's printed or list price is quoted as that brand's figure, never as ours.
Sources and facts we could not confirm
Where a figure or rule comes from outside our catalogue (a manufacturer's manual or price list, a traffic regulation, a published fine), the guide names where it came from. Where we could not confirm something, the guide says it is unconfirmed rather than present it as fact.
Bike reviews are our analysis of the published specifications, prices and what owners report. They never claim a test ride we did not do.
How we write about helmet safety marks
A helmet's DOT or ECE mark is the maker's claim. We repeat it exactly as printed, in the guides and on every helmet page, using one of three wordings:
- “DOT (or ECE 22.06 / DOT)”: The maker sells the helmet as certified to that standard and the mark is on the helmet. The certification is the maker's. We repeat it; we do not test helmets in a lab ourselves.
- “DOT mark printed on the shell (not independently verified)”: We can see a DOT sticker or print on the shell in our photos, but we have nothing beyond the sticker. Treat the mark as the manufacturer's claim. We say so on the page rather than call it certified.
- “None stated on the helmet (no DOT, ECE or PS mark)”: No safety mark is printed on the helmet or its label. Fine for short, slow city trips. For highway riding, pick a full face helmet that carries a DOT mark.
We never describe a helmet as DOT or ECE approved unless it is marked that way by its maker, and we do not add stickers. More on how we list helmets is on the about page.
Customer reviews and ratings
Star ratings on product pages are the average of approved customer reviews and nothing else. Reviews are written by shoppers; we read each one before it appears, and a review from someone who received the item through us is marked as a verified purchase. We do not write reviews, and no rating is shown until a real review has been approved.
Updates
Each guide shows the date it was first published and, once it has been revised, the date it was last updated. We revise a guide when our own prices or stock change, when a maker announces a new price, or when a reader tells us something is wrong, and the updated date moves only when the content does.
