Best for: Long-distance riders who want a well-equipped 150

Our verdict

The GR 150 is a well-equipped, comfortable 150 with published power (8.2 kW) and torque (11.5 Nm), a disc brake and full instruments. At Rs 552,900 it costs Rs 53,000 more than Honda's CB 150F and Rs 153,000 more than the GS 150, and it weighs 133 kg ready to ride. Buy it if you want its touring comfort and equipment; most buyers will get more value from the CB 150F or GS 150.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Front disc, alloy wheels and Euro 2 engine
  • Analogue tachometer plus digital gear and fuel indicators
  • Comfortable stepped seat and 165 mm ground clearance
  • Published power and torque figures
  • 12.5-litre tank

What we don’t

  • Most expensive bike here at Rs 552,900
  • Heavy: Suzuki lists 133 kg vehicle weight
  • Weaker resale than Honda 150s
  • Fewer dealers and model-specific parts

Engine and performance

Suzuki's brochure lists a 150cc air-cooled OHC single with 57 x 58.6 mm bore and stroke, a carburettor and 5 gears, making 8.2 kW at 8,000 rpm and 11.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm. That is slightly less than the Honda CG 150's published 8.75 kW and 12.5 Nm, and the GR 150 carries more weight.

It is a smooth highway cruiser rather than a quick bike. It is built for steady touring speeds with a pillion.

Comfort and handling

The GR 150 is 2,055 mm long with a 1,310 mm wheelbase, a 765 mm stepped seat and 165 mm ground clearance. Suzuki lists a 133 kg vehicle weight (not a dry figure), so it feels stable on the highway but heavy in parking.

Braking is a front disc and rear drum on cast wheels with a 90/90-18 rear tyre.

Fuel economy and running costs

No official fuel average; PakWheels lists about 45 km/l, which we treat as indicative. The 12.5-litre tank gives a long range. The engine takes 1,090 ml of oil. Some parts are model-specific, and Suzuki's dealer network is thinner than Honda's outside major cities.

Features

This is the best-equipped bike in Suzuki's Pakistani range: front disc, alloy wheels, analogue speedometer and tachometer, digital gear and fuel indicators, MF battery, self-start and Euro 2 compliance. Colours are Black and Red. Pak Suzuki has also offered instalment plans from Rs 15,400 a month.

Running costs in rupees

On PakWheels' listed 45 km/l, 1,000 km uses about 22 litres, around Rs 8,700 at Rs 391.30 per litre; a heavier 150 ridden hard is likely to use more. The 12.5-litre tank gives a long range.

Insurance costs more on a Rs 5.5 lakh bike than on a 125, and model-specific parts such as the cast wheels, disc and body panels cost more. Factor these in when comparing with the cheaper GS 150 and CB 150F.

Resale and who should buy it

Resale is the GR 150's weakness: at this price buyers compare it with Honda's CB 150F and CG 150, which are cheaper and easier to sell. Buy the GR 150 if you want touring comfort and the fullest instrument panel in the class. If value matters, the CB 150F is Rs 53,000 cheaper with similar equipment.
