Yamaha YBR 125 Specs, Fuel Tank, Review & Last Price

3.3/5

Best for: Used-bike buyers who want a refined 125

The YBR 125 was the refined, disc-braked alternative to the CG 125. Yamaha stopped making motorcycles in Pakistan in September 2025, so it is now a used-market buy.

Last official price

Rs 471,500

Last official price, effective 1 July 2025. Yamaha Motor Pakistan announced the end of motorcycle manufacturing on 9 September 2025; new stock is no longer produced and the bike is now mainly a used buy. The Rs 466,000 often quoted (including PakWheels) is the price before July 2025.

Our verdict

Mechanically the YBR 125 is still one of the nicest 125s sold in Pakistan: an SOHC engine, 5 gears, self-start, front disc and a 13-litre tank. But Yamaha Motor Pakistan ended motorcycle production on 9 September 2025, the last official price was Rs 471,500, and long-term parts and dealer support are the big unknown. A clean used one can be good value; a new-price purchase is hard to justify.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Smooth SOHC engine with 5 gears
  • Front disc brake and self-start
  • Large 13-litre tank
  • Comfortable, well-balanced chassis

What we don’t

  • Yamaha stopped motorcycle production in Pakistan (Sept 2025)
  • Future parts and dealer support uncertain
  • Last new price (Rs 471,500) was close to 150cc money
  • Resale now depends on a shrinking dealer network

Engine and performance

Yamaha's archived spec page lists a 124cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled SOHC engine with a square 54.0 x 54.0 mm bore and stroke, 10.0:1 compression, 12V DC-CDI ignition and a 5-speed constant-mesh gearbox. Yamaha Pakistan did not publish power; PakWheels lists 9.9 hp, unconfirmed.

The overhead-cam engine is smoother and quieter than the CG 125's pushrod unit, and the fifth gear makes highway cruising easier.

Comfort and handling

Yamaha listed a 775 mm seat, 1,285 mm wheelbase and 114 kg dry weight, with a 2.75-18 front tyre and 90/90-18 rear. It handles neatly and rides more comfortably than a CG 125. The front disc gives clearly better braking than drum-braked Honda 125s.

Fuel economy and running costs

Yamaha never published a fuel average. PakWheels lists 45 km/l, and owners report roughly 35-50 km/l. The 13-litre tank gives a long range. Yamaha recommended its Yamalube oil; the YBR family's service chart set checks at 1,000, 3,000 and 6,000 km and then every 3,000 km.

Production ended

On 9 September 2025 Yamaha Motor Pakistan announced in a signed letter that it would stop manufacturing motorcycles, promising parts and warranty support through authorised dealers. By October 2026 its website was not loading. The YBR 125's last official price was Rs 471,500 from 1 July 2025.

That makes long-term support the key risk. Common service parts are still sold in the market, but model-specific parts may get harder to find over time.

Used buying checklist

Whatever the model, check before you pay: match the chassis and engine numbers with the registration book and the seller's CNIC, ask for the original file and a smart card or book in the seller's name, and look for oil leaks, a worn chain and sprockets, and smoke on start-up. Ask a mechanic you trust to listen to the engine from cold.

Who should buy it

Buy a used YBR 125 if you find a clean, documented bike at a fair price and value its refinement and disc brake. If you want a new 125 with a full warranty and certain parts supply, the Honda CG 125S or CB 125F is the safer choice.
