Last updated: 22 October 2026

The correct Honda CG 150 engine oil is SAE 10W-30 rated API SL and JASO MA2, and a normal oil change takes 1.0 litre. That is not a guess or a forum opinion: it is printed in the service data of the CG150 Specifications PDF and on the engine oil page of the CG150 Operation Guide, both linked from Atlas Honda's own CG150 page. The same guide says to change the oil first at 1,000 km and then every 4,000 km, and to always use Atlas Honda genuine engine oil. This guide explains why that grade suits the bike, what it costs in September 2026, and how to check and change it yourself.

Quick answer

Written by Rooh Ullah of Bike Markaz — we sell motorcycle helmets, accessories, spare parts and oils online with nationwide courier delivery and cash on delivery. We read the manufacturer's own documents before we recommend an oil, and where a figure is not published, we say so.

Disclaimer: Specifications below come from Atlas Honda's CG150 documents as published on its website in September 2026. Oil prices are retailer listings we checked on 30 September 2026 and change often. Your printed owner's manual and your authorised Atlas Honda dealer are the final word for your bike.

Which Engine Oil Does the Honda CG 150 Use?

The short version is 10W-30, API SL, JASO MA2. Here is where that comes from and what each part means.

Atlas Honda publishes four PDFs on its CG150 page: Motorcycle Safety, Operation Guide, Tool Kit Information and Specifications. They are image-only Urdu documents, which is probably why so few websites quote them. We read them page by page on 30 September 2026:

What the document says Figure Source
Recommended engine oil (تجویز کردہ انجن آئل) SAE 10W-30 (API-SL / JASO-MA2) Specifications PDF, service data
Engine oil capacity at oil change 1.0 L Same page
Engine oil capacity after engine disassembly 1.2 L Same page
Oil to use "Always use Atlas Honda genuine engine oil" Operation Guide, engine oil page
Why multigrade Multigrade oil is better in almost all seasons Same page
First change / interval 1,000 km, then every 4,000 km Operation Guide, maintenance chart

So when someone asks "CG 150 mein konsa oil dalein?", the answer is the one Atlas Honda printed: a 10W-30 motorcycle oil with a JASO MA2 rating, ideally Atlas Honda's own genuine bottle while the bike is under warranty.

Is it the same oil as the CB 150F?

Probably, but we can only partly confirm it. The CG150 and CB 150F share the same 149.2cc SOHC engine dimensions (57.3 × 57.8 mm bore and stroke, 9.1:1 compression) on Atlas Honda's CG150 and CB150F pages, and Honda dealer Honda Zone sells the genuine 10W-30 for the CG 125 Self and CB 150F. We did not find a CB 150F owner's manual on Atlas Honda's website, so the CB 150F figure here rests on dealer listings, not an official document; our Honda CB 150F price guide covers that bike's oil and service costs. For the CG150, you do not need to borrow the CB 150F figure: its own specification sheet gives it.

Do not trust the "CG 150 Titan" manual

Search for a CG 150 owner's manual and you will find the Brazilian Honda CG 150 Titan manual on manual-sharing sites. That is a different motorcycle, built in Brazil, and its oil figures do not apply to the Pakistani CG150. As we explain in our Honda CG 150 price guide, the Atlas Honda CG150 launched here in July 2025 is its own model with its own local documents.

How Much Oil Does a CG 150 Take? (CG 150 Oil Kitna Aata Hai)

1.0 litre at a normal oil change. That is the figure Atlas Honda lists "at the time of change" in the CG150 Specifications. The 1.2-litre figure is for an engine that has been dismantled and reassembled, when every passage and the crankcase are completely dry. It is not the amount you pour in during routine service.

Why the difference matters in practice:

  • One 1-litre bottle is enough for a routine change. You do not need to buy a second bottle "to be safe".
  • Do not pour in 1.2 L after a normal drain. Some old oil always stays inside the engine, so adding the rebuild figure overfills it.
  • Always finish with the dipstick. Drain amounts vary a little with how long you let it drip and how level the bike is, so the dipstick reading, not the bottle, decides the final level.

For comparison, if you are wondering how much engine oil a 150cc bike takes in general, the answer depends on the engine design, which is exactly why you should read your own bike's figure and not a general rule. The CG 125 and CD 70 have their own quantities and grades, which our bike engine oil price guide covers.

Why 10W-30? Pakistani Summer, Winter and the CG 150 Engine

Three 1-litre motorcycle engine oil bottles on a workbench in front of a Honda CG 150, comparing engine oil options in Pakistan

Many Pakistani riders assume thicker oil means more protection, especially in June. That belief is the main reason people pour 20W-50 into bikes that were designed for something else. Here is how the numbers actually work.

A grade like 10W-30 is defined by the SAE J300 standard (summary on Wikipedia):

  • The "10W" part is the cold, or winter, rating. It limits how thick the oil may be at low temperatures (the cold-cranking test for 10W is run at −25°C; for 20W it is −15°C).
  • The "30" part is the hot rating. An SAE 30 oil must have a kinematic viscosity of 9.3 to under 12.5 cSt at 100°C. An SAE 40 is 12.5 to under 16.3, and SAE 50 is 16.3 to under 21.9.

So a 10W-30 flows more easily on every cold start, and runs slightly thinner at operating temperature than a 40 or 50. Engineers choose the hot grade to match the engine's internal clearances and oil pump. A thinner cold rating also means the oil reaches the CG150's overhead camshaft sooner after each start.

What about 45°C summers? Atlas Honda's guide says multigrade oil is suitable in almost all seasons and lists only 10W-30 for the CG150. We found no temperature chart in the published CG150 documents allowing a heavier grade for hot weather. So our advice is simple: the answer to Pakistani heat is changing the oil on time, not changing the grade. Heat breaks oil down faster, which is why the guide tells you to shorten the interval in severe conditions.

What about cold northern winters? A 10W oil already handles cold starts in Murree, Swat, Quetta or Gilgit comfortably. There is no need to go thinner.

10W-30 vs 10W-40 vs 20W-50 for the CG 150

Warranty-safe on a CG150? Yes, if Atlas Honda genuine No: not the listed grade, and non-genuine oil is excluded No
Where it makes sense CG150, CB 150F (per dealers), CG 125 Self (per dealers) Bikes whose manual lists it Older, worn engines whose manual allows it
Our verdict for a CG150 Use this Only a fallback after warranty, see below Do not use

Honest note on 10W-40: after the warranty ends, some owners and mechanics run a quality JASO MA2 10W-40 in 150cc Hondas, especially if a 10W-30 is out of stock locally. It will not destroy the engine overnight, but it is not what Atlas Honda lists, and we cannot point you to any official source saying it is acceptable on the CG150. If you have the choice, stay with 10W-30.

Why 20W-50 is a bad idea here: it is a full hot grade heavier than specified, slower on cold starts, and it is sometimes used to hide the symptoms of a worn engine (quieter tappets, less smoke). On a new CG150 it gives you nothing Atlas Honda asked for, and while the bike is under warranty it is non-genuine, non-listed oil. The general comparison of 20W-40, 20W-50 and 10W-40 for 70cc and 125cc bikes is in our bike engine oil guide.

JASO MA2, API SL and Why Car Oil Is Wrong for a CG 150

The CG150's spec line has two ratings after the grade. Both matter.

API SL is a service category from the American Petroleum Institute, describing the oil's general additive and quality level. The CG150 documents list SL. Newer letters such as SM and SN are later API petrol-engine categories, and you will see them on some 10W-30 bike oils; what matters most for a motorcycle is that the bottle also carries the right JASO rating.

JASO MA2 is the motorcycle-specific part. The Japanese JASO T903 standard tests how an oil behaves with a wet clutch, because in a bike like the CG150 the engine, gearbox and clutch all share the same oil. According to Rock Oil's explanation of JASO specifications:

  • JASO MA / MA1 / MA2 oils are for motorcycles with a wet clutch and deliver the friction the clutch needs without friction modifiers, preventing clutch slip. MA2 is the higher-friction category, described as suited to modern motorcycles, especially those with catalytic converters.
  • JASO MB oils contain friction modifiers for low friction and fuel economy. They are meant for scooters with automatic transmissions and can cause clutch slip in geared motorcycles.

Why car oil is wrong: many car oils are energy-conserving formulas with friction modifiers, the same property that JASO MB oils have. In a CG150, that can make the clutch slip under load: the revs rise but the bike does not pull, especially in 4th and 5th gear on the highway. OilSpecifications.org puts it plainly: for shared engine and wet-clutch lubrication, "most of the time the regular friction modified engine oils are not good enough".

Buying rule for a CG150: the bottle must say 10W-30 and JASO MA2 (MA is the older, wider category; MA2 is what Atlas Honda lists). If it says MB, or has no JASO rating at all, it is not for your bike.

Mineral, Semi-Synthetic or Fully Synthetic?

Atlas Honda's CG150 documents specify the grade and ratings, not the base oil. Here is how the three types compare for a 150cc commuter.

Type What it is Pros Cons Fits a CG150 when
Mineral Refined crude base oil Cheapest, widely available Breaks down faster in heat It is 10W-30 JASO MA2 and changed on schedule
Semi-synthetic Mineral blended with synthetic base More heat and shear resistance Costs more You ride long highway distances or in peak summer
Fully synthetic Engineered base oils (some ester-based) Best stability under heat and high revs Costs the most, easy to overpay You ride hard and still keep to the grade and interval

Is Atlas Honda's 10W-30 mineral or semi-synthetic? Retailers disagree. AutoHouse describes its Atlas Honda 10W-30 SL/JASO MA2 as a mineral (conventional) oil, while another Pakistani retailer's listing we found in search results calls the same "PROHONDA 10W-30" semi-synthetic. We could not find an Atlas Honda statement settling it, so we are not claiming either.

Our honest take: for most CG150 owners, on-time changes with the correct grade matter more than paying for synthetic. A fully synthetic oil changed late protects the engine worse than a correct mineral oil changed on time. Do not stretch the 4,000 km interval just because the bottle says synthetic; the Operation Guide gives one interval, not a longer one for premium oil.

When to Change the Oil: First Service and Interval (CG 150 Oil Kab Change Karein)

The CG150 has its own schedule, and it is different from the older Honda advice you may have heard for the CD 70 and CG 125 (500 km first, then every 2,000 km, covered in our bike engine oil guide). For the CG150, the Operation Guide's maintenance chart says:

Item What Atlas Honda says Our practical reading
Engine oil Change first at 1,000 km, then every 4,000 km Note the odometer at every change
Engine oil filter screen (strainer) Clean with every oil change Ask your dealer to do this at each change
Centrifugal oil filter Clean every 12,000 km A dealer job
Severe use (note 3 of the chart) Change at a shorter interval depending on riding conditions and engine condition See the table below
Odometer beyond the chart Repeat the same intervals Keep repeating 4,000 km changes

The warranty section of the CG150 page lists the three free services at 1 month or 1,000 km, 3 months or 4,000 km and 5 months or 8,000 km, and notes that apart from labour, all costs of these services are the customer's. In other words, the service is free but the oil is not: you pay for the bottle at each free service.

One inconsistency worth knowing: the maintenance chart in the Operation Guide says to clean the oil filter screen at every oil change, while a note on the warranty page says the centrifugal oil filter and the oil filter screen must be cleaned every 12,000 km. We follow the stricter instruction, cleaning the screen at every change, and suggest you ask your dealer which they apply.

Adjusting the interval for Pakistani riding

Atlas Honda does not put numbers on "severe conditions", so the table below is our guidance, not an Atlas Honda rule. It never goes longer than 4,000 km.

How you ride Suggested change interval
Mixed city and highway, solo, moderate weather Every 4,000 km (the manual figure)
Heavy stop-go traffic in summer, lots of idling Around 3,000 km
Regular pillion, luggage or long highway runs at high revs Around 3,000 km
Dusty, unpaved or construction-area roads Around 3,000 km, and check the air cleaner more often (the chart's note 2 says to service it more often in dusty areas)
Rode through deep standing water in the monsoon Check at once; change immediately if the oil looks milky
Bike parked most of the time, low km At least every few months, even if you have not reached 4,000 km

Break-in: the first 1,000 km

The Operation Guide's running-in section asks you, for roughly the first 1,000 km, not to exceed 50% of the maximum speed in any gear, not to overload the bike, and to avoid full throttle and holding the same throttle for long periods. It explains that new parts wear against each other fastest at the start, and repeats the caution to change the engine oil for the first time at 1,000 km. That first change removes the fine metal particles of break-in, so skipping it is one of the most expensive mistakes a new owner can make.

Genuine Atlas Honda Oil, Other Brands and Your Warranty

This is the question we are asked most, so here is exactly what the documents say.

The CG150 warranty (per the CG150 page) has two parts: a normal warranty of 6 months or 6,000 km, and an extended warranty of 3 years or 20,000 km, whichever comes first. The terms say claims will not be accepted for:

  • defects caused by non-genuine parts and engine oil,
  • defects from not cleaning or replacing scheduled items on time, and the list names engine oil and the centrifugal oil filter,
  • repairs not carried out by an authorised Atlas Honda dealer,
  • continuous high speed, racing and overloading.

The page's note adds: always have Atlas Honda Ltd genuine engine oil changed at an authorised service dealer, and keep the maintenance record, because the original warranty certificate and maintenance record must be shown for any claim.

What that means for you:

  1. Under warranty (first 3 years / 20,000 km): use Atlas Honda genuine 10W-30 and have it changed at an authorised dealer, with the change recorded in your service book. Using Shell, Castrol or Motul during this period, however good the oil, gives Atlas Honda grounds to refuse an engine claim.
  2. After warranty: you are free to choose any quality 10W-30 JASO MA2 oil. Brand matters less than grade, rating, a sealed bottle and on-time changes.
  3. Keep proof either way. An invoice and odometer note for every change also helps when you sell the bike, because used-bike buyers pay more for a documented service history.

Atlas Honda's own online store listed only two engine oils when we checked on 30 September 2026: the Engine Oil 1 Litre CG125 at Rs 1,220, which its product page describes as 20W-40, JASO MA, and the Engine Oil 700 ml CD70 at Rs 860 (Atlas Honda store). Neither is the CG150's listed grade. Do not order the CG125 bottle for a CG150 just because it says "Atlas Honda". Buy the genuine 10W-30 instead (see the price table below).

Honda CG 150 Engine Oil Price in Pakistan (September 2026)

These are listed prices we checked on 30 September 2026. They come from retailer and dealer websites, not a manufacturer price list, so treat them as approximate. For the full brand-by-brand price list for all bikes, including Atlas Honda's 20W-40, see our bike engine oil price in Pakistan guide.

10W-30 oils that match the CG150's listed grade

Oil Rating Pack Listed price Source
Atlas Honda Genuine 10W30 1L API SL / JASO MA2 1 L Rs 1,380 Bike Markaz
Shell Advance AX7 10W30 1L API SM / JASO MA2 1 L Rs 1,600 Bike Markaz
Atlas Honda genuine 10W-30 API SL / JASO MA2 1 L Rs 1,560 AutoHouse
Atlas Honda genuine 10W-30 ("for CG125 Self and CB150F") Not stated on page Not stated Rs 1,400 (was Rs 1,450) Honda Zone
Atlas Honda Oil 10-30 Not stated on page Not stated Rs 1,250 (sold out) HondaKing
Shell Advance AX7 10W-30 API SM / JASO MA2 1 L Rs 2,500 PakWheels (Gari Parts)
Shell Advance AX7 10W-30 API SM / JASO MA2 1 L Rs 1,980 (was Rs 2,200, sold out) Gari Parts

Third-party prices approximate, checked September 2026, can change. Bike Markaz prices as at 7 October 2026.

So the honda 10w30 engine oil price in Pakistan is roughly Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,560 for Atlas Honda's genuine bottle, and around Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 for Shell Advance AX7 10W-30 at other sellers — although our own Shell AX7 is Rs 1,600, because we price it at the retail price printed on the pack rather than above it. Because one change takes 1.0 L, one bottle is one oil change. At a 4,000 km interval, that works out to well under Rs 1 per kilometre for oil, which is cheap insurance for a Rs 4.5 lakh motorcycle.

We looked for Pakistani listings of Castrol Power1 4T 10W-30 and Motul 3000/5100 10W-30 and found only Indian, Bangladeshi or import-reseller prices, so we have not listed them. If a seller offers one, check that the bottle says 10W-30 and JASO MA2 and that the seal is intact.

Watch out for scooter oil: some 10W-30 and 10W-40 bottles sold in Pakistan are scooter oils. A listing we checked, for example, is titled "Kixx Ultra 4T SL 10W-40 Scooter Oil". Scooter oils are often JASO MB, which is wrong for a geared bike. Read the JASO line on the bottle, not only the grade.

What about 10W-40, and about Motul?

Most sellers stock 10W-40 rather than 10W-30, so it is the grade you will be offered. It is not the grade Atlas Honda lists for the CG150, so do not let a shop talk you into it for this bike. If you have another bike that does take 10W-40, our Suzuki Ecstar R5000 10W40 1L is Rs 1,850.

We do not stock Motul engine oil (the only Motul product we sell is the Motul C2 chain lube, Rs 3,250), and premium imported oils such as the Motul 7100 and 5100 are 10W-40 anyway. Rather than repeat the comparison here, we keep it in one place: Motul 7100 10W-40 price in Pakistan, and the 10W-40 oil we actually sell.

Buy the right grade from us: Bike Markaz stocks the CG150's listed grade. Atlas Honda Genuine 10W30 1L (Rs 1,380) is the genuine API SL / JASO MA2 oil Atlas Honda specifies, and one bottle is exactly one CG150 oil change. After the warranty, Shell Advance AX7 10W30 1L (Rs 1,600) is a JASO MA2 alternative. Both ship nationwide with cash on delivery; see the full engine oil range.

How to Check Your CG 150's Oil Level (Step by Step)

Checking the Honda CG 150 engine oil level on the filler-cap dipstick beside the engine, with a clean rag

The CG150's oil level gauge (dipstick) is on the right side of the engine, shown as item 6 in the right-side parts diagram of the Operation Guide. The guide's own procedure, which we have followed step for step:

  1. If the engine is cold, start it and let it idle for 3 to 5 minutes.
  2. Switch the ignition off and wait 2 to 3 minutes so the oil settles back into the crankcase.
  3. Put the motorcycle on its main stand on firm, level ground. On the side stand the bike leans and the reading is wrong.
  4. Remove the oil filler cap / dipstick and wipe it clean.
  5. Re-insert the dipstick without screwing it in, then take it out again.
  6. Check that the oil level is between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick.
  7. Refit the dipstick carefully.

If it is below the lower mark, top up with the same 10W-30 JASO MA2 oil, a little at a time, rechecking between additions. Never fill above the upper mark: too much oil is not extra protection, and an overfilled engine should be drained back to the correct level.

How often to check: every week or two, and before any long trip. A CG150 that regularly needs topping up is worth showing to a dealer.

Signs Your CG 150 Oil Needs Changing

The odometer is your main guide, but these signs mean change it now, regardless of kilometres:

  • The oil looks milky or creamy. That usually means water got in, for example after riding through deep monsoon water. Change it immediately.
  • It is black and gritty between your fingers, or smells burnt. Fresh oil is honey-coloured; some darkening is normal, grit is not.
  • Gear changes feel notchy or stiff, or neutral is harder to find. Tired oil lubricates the gearbox poorly.
  • The clutch slips: revs rise in a high gear without the bike speeding up. Check first that nobody put car oil or scooter oil in it.
  • More engine noise than usual, especially a louder tapping from the top of the engine.
  • The level keeps dropping between checks. Change and top up correctly, then have the dealer look for leaks or oil burning.
  • You do not know when it was last changed, such as on a second-hand CG150 without a service record. Change it and start a fresh record.

How to Change CG 150 Engine Oil Yourself (Step by Step)

Mechanic pouring fresh Honda CG 150 engine oil through a funnel into a green CG 150 on its centre stand in a bright workshop courtyard

First, the warranty point: Atlas Honda's CG150 terms say to have genuine oil changed at an authorised service dealer, and the Operation Guide also advises having scheduled service done by a Honda dealer unless you have the proper tools, the service data and are mechanically qualified. While your bike is under warranty, let the dealer do it and get it stamped in your service book. The steps below are for owners whose bikes are out of warranty, or who want to understand what the mechanic should be doing.

You will need: 1.0 L of 10W-30 JASO MA2 oil, the right spanner or socket for the drain bolt, a drain pan that holds at least 1.5 litres, a funnel, clean rags, gloves, and a new drain-bolt sealing washer if you can get one.

  1. Warm the engine for 3 to 5 minutes. Warm oil flows out faster and carries more dirt with it. Do not run it until it is fully hot; the exhaust and engine cases can burn you.
  2. Put the bike on its main stand on level ground and place the drain pan under the engine's drain bolt at the bottom of the crankcase.
  3. Remove the oil filler cap / dipstick first. This lets air in so the oil drains smoothly.
  4. Unscrew the drain bolt carefully. The oil is hot. Keep your hand clear as the bolt comes out.
  5. Let it drain completely, about 5 to 10 minutes. Rocking the bike gently upright on the stand helps the last of it out.
  6. Clean the drain bolt, fit a new sealing washer, and refit it. Tighten firmly but do not overtighten: the thread is in an aluminium crankcase. We could not find the CG150 drain-bolt torque in the published documents, so if you have a torque wrench, ask your dealer for the figure.
  7. Oil filter screen: the maintenance chart says to clean it at every oil change. It sits behind a cover on the engine, and access varies, so if you are not confident, have a dealer or trusted mechanic do this part. The centrifugal filter (every 12,000 km) is a dealer job.
  8. Pour in about 0.9 L through a funnel, then check with the dipstick.
  9. Start the engine and idle for a minute, switch off, wait 2 to 3 minutes, and check the level again using the procedure above. Top up to between the marks; the total will be about 1.0 L.
  10. Check for leaks around the drain bolt and wipe off any spilled oil, especially near the rear tyre.
  11. Write down the date and odometer reading, and the brand and grade you used.
  12. Dispose of the used oil responsibly. Seal it in a bottle and hand it to a workshop that collects used oil. Never pour it into drains or soil.

Safety notes: never work on a bike on the side stand, never run the engine in a closed room (the Operation Guide warns that exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which can cause unconsciousness or death), and keep children away from hot oil and the exhaust.

Oil Filter, Strainer and the Other Oil-Related Jobs

A question we see often is "which oil filter does the CG 150 use?" Based on the Operation Guide's maintenance chart, the CG150 lists an engine oil filter screen (a strainer, cleaned at every oil change) and a centrifugal oil filter (cleaned every 12,000 km). The chart does not list a replaceable paper oil filter cartridge like the one the Suzuki GS 150 uses. So there is no separate "CG150 oil filter" to buy for each change; ask for the screen to be cleaned instead, and for the centrifugal filter to be cleaned at 12,000 km, 24,000 km and so on.

Other items the same chart puts on the maintenance schedule, which affect how hard the oil has to work:

  • Air cleaner: inspect at 4,000 km intervals and replace at 16,000 km in the chart, more often in dusty areas (note 2). A clogged air cleaner makes the engine run richer and hotter, which is hard on the oil. Honestly, on the CG 150 and CB 150F air filter: the only air cleaner element we stock today is the genuine Atlas Honda Air Cleaner Element for the CD70 (Rs 160, part 17211-GGJ-97K1), which does not fit a CG150 or CB150F. We would rather say that than sell you a part that does not fit. For a CG150 or CB150F element, ask your Atlas Honda dealer for the genuine part, or message us with your bike and year — if enough riders ask, we will stock it. Our current range is on the air and oil filters page.
  • Spark plug: replaced at 8,000 and 16,000 km in the chart; the specified plug is NGK CPR8EA-9 with a 0.8–0.9 mm gap (Specifications PDF). Spark plugs are not in our range yet, so buy the specified plug from your dealer or a trusted parts seller.
  • Drive chain: the chart says lubricate every 500 km; the specifications list 20–30 mm of slack and a 428 chain with 120 links, and suggest drive chain lubricant or SAE 80/90 gear oil. Chain lube is not in our range yet, so pick up a road chain lube from a parts seller. Engine oil is not a substitute for chain lube.
  • Idle speed: 1,500 ± 100 rpm, checked at each service.

Prices for common wear parts are in our bike spare parts price list.

Pros and Cons of the Main Choices

Atlas Honda genuine 10W-30

  • Pros: the grade and rating Atlas Honda lists; keeps your warranty clean; cheapest correct option at about Rs 1,250–1,560.
  • Cons: not sold on Atlas Honda's own online store when we checked; retailers disagree on whether it is mineral or semi-synthetic; counterfeit risk if bought from an unknown seller.

Shell Advance AX7 10W-30 (or another branded 10W-30 JASO MA2)

  • Pros: correct grade and JASO MA2 rating; widely known brand; a good after-warranty choice.
  • Cons: still costs more per change than the genuine oil — Rs 1,600 against Rs 1,380 at our prices, and Rs 500–1,000 more at sellers who price it above the pack; using it during warranty conflicts with Atlas Honda's genuine-oil condition; stock is patchy (one listing we checked was sold out).

10W-40 semi-synthetic or synthetic

  • Pros: easy to find in Pakistan; high-quality options carry JASO MA2.
  • Cons: not the grade Atlas Honda lists for the CG150; not warranty-safe; costs more.

How We Researched This

We compiled this guide on 30 September 2026 using WebSearch, WebFetch and the manufacturer's own documents:

What we could not verify: Atlas Honda does not sell the 10W-30 on its own online store and we found no official Atlas Honda price for it, so its price is from dealer and retailer listings. We could not confirm whether Atlas Honda's 10W-30 is mineral or semi-synthetic. We found no CB 150F owner's manual online, so the CB 150F oil grade rests on dealer listings. The published CG150 documents do not give a drain-bolt torque, and we found no Pakistani prices for Castrol or Motul 10W-30 oils. Which engine oil is best for the Honda CG 150?

Atlas Honda specifies SAE 10W-30 with API SL and JASO MA2 ratings for the CG150, and its Operation Guide says to always use Atlas Honda genuine engine oil. During warranty, use the genuine Atlas Honda 10W-30 changed at an authorised dealer. After warranty, any quality 10W-30 JASO MA2 motorcycle oil, such as Shell Advance AX7 10W-30, is a sound choice.

How much engine oil does a Honda CG 150 take?

1.0 litre at a normal oil change, according to the service data in Atlas Honda's CG150 Specifications. The 1.2-litre figure is only for an engine that has been dismantled and rebuilt. Always finish by checking the dipstick and keeping the level between the upper and lower marks.

When should I change the oil in a new CG 150?

Atlas Honda's CG150 Operation Guide says to change the engine oil first at 1,000 km and then every 4,000 km, at a shorter interval in severe riding conditions. The free services are at 1 month or 1,000 km, 3 months or 4,000 km and 5 months or 8,000 km, but the oil itself is paid for by the customer.

CG 150 mein konsa oil dalein?

CG 150 mein SAE 10W-30 oil dalein jis par API SL aur JASO MA2 likha ho. Atlas Honda ki CG150 Specifications mein yehi grade diya gaya hai. Warranty ke dauran Atlas Honda ka genuine 10W-30 authorised dealer se tabdeel karwayein. Car oil ya scooter oil (JASO MB) bilkul na dalein.

CG 150 oil kitna aata hai?

Aam oil change par CG 150 mein 1.0 litre oil aata hai. 1.2 litre sirf us waqt lagta hai jab engine khol kar dobara joda gaya ho. Oil dalne ke baad dipstick se check karein ke level upar aur neeche wale nishan ke darmiyan ho.

CG 150 oil kab change karein?

Oil doodhiya nazar aaye to foran change karein.

Can I use 20W-50 or 10W-40 in a CG 150?

Atlas Honda lists only 10W-30 for the CG150, so neither is the specified grade, and non-genuine or non-listed oil can put your warranty at risk. 20W-50 is a full hot grade heavier and slower on cold starts, and we advise against it. Some owners use a JASO MA2 10W-40 after the warranty ends, but there is no official approval for it, so 10W-30 remains the right choice.

Does using non-genuine oil void the Atlas Honda warranty?

Atlas Honda's CG150 warranty terms say claims will not be accepted for defects caused by non-genuine parts and engine oil, or for repairs not done by an authorised dealer. The terms also say to always have Atlas Honda genuine engine oil changed at an authorised service dealer and to keep the maintenance record for any claim.

Can I use car engine oil in my CG 150?

No. The CG150's engine, gearbox and wet clutch share the same oil. Many car oils contain friction modifiers for fuel economy, which can make a motorcycle clutch slip. Use a motorcycle oil rated JASO MA2, as Atlas Honda specifies, and avoid JASO MB scooter oils as well.

Does the Honda CG 150 have an oil filter?

The CG150 maintenance chart lists an engine oil filter screen, to be cleaned at every oil change, and a centrifugal oil filter, to be cleaned every 12,000 km. It does not list a replaceable paper oil filter cartridge, so there is no separate filter to buy at each change. Ask your dealer to clean the screen at every oil change.
