Quick answer: A DOT certified helmet in Pakistan costs Rs 8,500 to Rs 12,000 at Bike Markaz as of October 2026, from the BSDDP full face to the Vector VT-265; imported ECE 22.06 brands start around Rs 20,000. "DOT" means the maker declares the helmet meets US standard FMVSS No. 218. Nobody in Pakistan checks it, so read the label.

What to check is the label: a permanent mark on the back reading the brand, the model, DOT, "FMVSS No. 218" and "CERTIFIED", and a label inside with the maker, size and month and year of manufacture (49 CFR 571.218).

Prices checked 14 October 2026. Labels described here are what is printed on the helmets we sell; we have not crash-tested any helmet.

Key takeaways

  • Cheapest DOT-labelled helmet we sell: the BSDDP full face at Rs 8,500.
  • DOT is self-certified by the manufacturer under US FMVSS No. 218. In the US the regulator buys and tests helmets after sale; in Pakistan nobody checks the sticker for you.
  • ECE 22.06 is the European standard. Its label is stitched to the chin strap and carries an approval number starting with 06. It is tested before sale.
  • A real DOT label is permanent and reads DOT, FMVSS No. 218 and CERTIFIED, with the maker or brand and the model. A bare "DOT" sticker that peels off with a fingernail is a red flag.
  • Pakistan has developed a national helmet standard, but the law does not yet prescribe one, so the label on the helmet is your only check.

Written by Rooh Ullah of Bike Markaz: we sell helmets, gear, parts and oils online with courier delivery across Pakistan and cash on delivery. Several helmets we sell carry a DOT label and several do not; we tell you which is which and never call a helmet certified because the listing says so.

DOT Certified Helmet Price in Pakistan (October 2026)

These are the helmets we sell that carry a DOT mark on the shell, cheapest first. "Printed mark" means the maker's sticker; we report what it says.

Helmet Type Price What the rear label says
BSDDP Full Face Blue Chain Full face Rs 8,500 DOT FMVSS 218 sticker
RZ Honeycomb Full Face Full face Rs 9,000 DOT FMVSS 218 CERTIFIED with the RZ octagon
MAX 909 Modular Modular Rs 9,000 909 DOT FMVSS No. 218, plus a "BPS CERTIFIED Product Safety Lic No Q-5017" sticker and a holographic ICC sticker (Philippine-market stickers we cannot check)
AXK 909 Modular Modular Rs 9,000 909 DOT FMVSS No. 218 on the camouflage unit; the gloss black unit's sticker reads 900
LEO by Penguin PG 107 Modular Modular Rs 9,500 Hexagonal PENGUIN PG 107 DOT FMVSS No. 218
Vector VT-254 Prime Modular Rs 11,500 VT254 PRIME DOT badge
Super Air SP-915 Modular Modular Rs 11,500 Super Air SP-915 DOT FMVSS NO. 218 CERTIFIED
Super Air SP-918 Pro Full face Rs 11,500 Super Air / SP-918 PRO / DOT / FMVSS NO. 218 / CERTIFIED, size sticker L 59-60
Vector VT-265 Modular Modular Rs 12,000 VECTOR VT265 DOT FMVSS No. 218 CERTIFIED, size sticker and a round QC PASS 08

The Vector VT-254 (Rs 11,000) also carries a VT254 DOT label, and the Jiekai JK-316 and JK-902 (Rs 11,000) are listed as DOT by the supplier (no rear label was photographed for our catalogue); all three were sold out when this was written.

Helmets we sell with no DOT label: the FM open faces and half helmet, the 815 full face, the YXYT and KAIFA open faces, the Penguin chain graphic modular, the Super Air gloss black / silver full face and the BMT cream half face (CCC mark only). They are on sale because they are honest city helmets at Rs 2,400-6,500, not because we think a label does not matter.

"QC PASS" on the VT-265 (and on the SP-918 Pro's visor) is a factory inspection sticker, not a certification. For context, imported premium brands with ECE 22.06 approval, such as LS2 and MT, start at roughly Rs 20,000 in Pakistan in our checks; our helmet price in Pakistan guide has the price tiers.

What Does DOT Certified Mean on a Helmet?

DOT is the US Department of Transportation. Its motorcycle helmet rule, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 218 (49 CFR 571.218), sets the impact, penetration and chin-strap tests a helmet must pass and exactly what its label must say. Three things follow from how it works:

  1. The maker certifies its own helmet. There is no approval before sale. The maker declares compliance and prints the label.
  2. Enforcement happens after sale, in the US. The US regulator, NHTSA, checks helmets once they are on the US market, and warns that DOT stickers are also sold on their own and counterfeited (NHTSA). None of that reaches a helmet sold in Pakistan.
  3. So a DOT sticker on a helmet in Pakistan is a claim, not a proof. It tells you the maker says the helmet meets FMVSS No. 218. A good maker means it; a bad one prints the sticker anyway.

That is why we describe every DOT label on our helmets as "a printed mark, not a certification we have verified". It is the honest description of what any seller in Pakistan can know.

Is ECE 22.06 Better Than DOT? (DOT vs ECE vs PSQCA)

If you can find a helmet with a genuine ECE 22.06 label at your budget, it has passed a stricter, pre-sale test than DOT alone. At Rs 8,500-12,000 in Pakistan, DOT-labelled helmets are what the market offers; ECE helmets start well above that.

How Can You Spot a Fake DOT Sticker?

Use this checklist on the helmet you receive, before you pay the rider:

  1. Look for the full wording. A real label carries the DOT symbol, FMVSS No. 218 and CERTIFIED, usually with the brand or maker and the model. A sticker that says only "DOT" is the classic fake.
  2. Try the edge. A real mark is permanent: printed, moulded or under the clear coat. A loose sticker that lifts with a fingernail proves nothing.
  3. Open the helmet. Inside, under the padding or on the shell, a label should give the maker, model, size and month and year of manufacture.
  4. Check the model matches. The model on the label (VT265, SP-915, PG 107) should match the helmet you ordered. A label from one model on another shell is a warning. We found one ourselves: on the units photographed for our catalogue, the AXK 909 camouflage helmet reads "909 DOT" but the gloss black one reads "900 DOT". We list both because we report the label as printed, not because the mismatch does not matter.
  5. Press the liner. The white EPS foam inside should be dense and firm; NHTSA describes a compliant liner as firm foam about an inch thick. Soft, springy packing foam is a sign of a helmet built to a price, label or not.
  6. Pull the strap. Fasten it and pull hard. A buckle that slips or a rivet that moves is a fail whatever the sticker says.

Our Vector and Jiekai guides show where those brands put their labels.

Is a DOT Certified Helmet Compulsory in Pakistan?

No. Section 89-A of the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1969 requires a crash helmet for rider and pillion, and the Pakistan Safety Council notes that the law does not prescribe a standard (PSC). Pakistan developed a national motorcycle helmet standard in 2022 and a committee recommended it for PSQCA's mandatory list (Pakistan Today), but traffic police check that you are wearing a helmet, not what label it carries. Lahore made helmets compulsory for rider and pillion in January 2025 (Dunya News) and Islamabad from July 2025 (Geo News). As of October 2026 the no-helmet fine is Rs 2,000 in Punjab (24 News HD) and a Rs 10,000 e-challan has been reported in Karachi (ProPakistani). More by city is in our helmet price in Pakistan guide.

Which DOT Helmet Should You Buy?

  • Lowest price with a DOT label: the BSDDP full face at Rs 8,500, a one-piece full face.
  • DOT-labelled flip-up under Rs 10,000: the LEO by Penguin PG 107 at Rs 9,500; its visor band lists the sizes, which makes fitting easier.
  • DOT flip-up with a sun visor: the Vector VT-254 Prime or the Super Air SP-915, both Rs 11,500. Our Super Air helmet price guide compares the two.
  • Top of our range: the Vector VT-265 modular at Rs 12,000, or the Super Air SP-918 Pro full face at Rs 11,500.

A DOT helmet that does not fit protects less than a cheaper one that does. Measure your head with our size guide and send the number on WhatsApp before you order; size letters differ between brands (on our units an M reads 57-58 cm on the Vector VT-265 and LEO PG 107 but 55-57 cm on the Penguin chain graphic modular).

FAQs: DOT Certified Helmet in Pakistan

What is the price of a DOT certified helmet in Pakistan?

At Bike Markaz DOT-labelled helmets cost from Rs 8,500 (BSDDP full face) through Rs 9,000-9,500 (RZ, MAX 909, AXK 909, LEO PG 107) to Rs 11,500-12,000 (Vector VT-254 Prime, Super Air SP-915, Super Air SP-918 Pro, Vector VT-265), checked 20 October 2026. Imported helmets with ECE 22.06 start at roughly Rs 20,000.

What does DOT certified mean on a helmet?

It means the maker declares that the helmet meets the US standard FMVSS No. 218. DOT is self-certified: there is no test before sale, and the US regulator checks helmets only after they are on sale in the US.

How can I tell if a DOT sticker is fake?

A real DOT label is permanent and carries the DOT symbol, FMVSS No. 218 and CERTIFIED, usually with the maker and model. Inside the helmet a label should give the maker, model, size and date of manufacture. A loose sticker that only says DOT, or a model on the label that does not match the helmet, is a warning sign.

Is ECE 22.06 better than DOT?

ECE 22.06 helmets are tested by an approved lab before sale and the approval label is stitched to the chin strap, so the label is harder to fake and the test is stricter. DOT is a self-certification. In Pakistan, ECE helmets cost far more than DOT-labelled ones.

Is a DOT helmet compulsory in Pakistan?

No. Lahore, Punjab and Islamabad require a helmet for rider and pillion, but the rules do not name a standard, and Pakistan's national helmet standard is not yet prescribed by law. Police check that you wear a helmet, not its label.

Which is the cheapest DOT certified helmet at Bike Markaz?

The BSDDP full face in blue chain at Rs 8,500, which carries a DOT FMVSS 218 sticker. The cheapest DOT-labelled flip-ups are the MAX 909 and AXK 909 at Rs 9,000.
