Our verdict

Super Power offers the usual Chinese-design 70 recipe: 78cc, 4 gears, kick start and drum brakes, at roughly Rs 43,000 less than a Honda CD 70 based on PakWheels' listing. The 70 km/l claim is optimistic, the brand's resale is weaker than United's or Honda's, and the lack of official prices makes comparison harder. Consider it only if a local dealer gives you a strong price and good after-sales support.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Low price, about Rs 43,000 under a CD 70 (PakWheels listing)
  • Several variants including self-start and alloy-rim models
  • Cheap CD 70-pattern service parts
  • Published power and torque, unlike most rivals

What we don’t

  • No official price list on Super Power's website
  • Weak resale value
  • 70 km/l claim is not a tested figure
  • Kick start and drum brakes on the base model

Engine and performance

Super Power's site lists a 78cc 4-stroke OHC air-cooled single with 8.8:1 compression, a 4-speed gearbox and CDI ignition, rated at 7.0 PS at 8,500 rpm and 0.55 kg-m at 6,500 rpm. These are the maker's own figures. In practice it performs like other 70s.

Comfort and handling

Super Power lists 1,885 x 760 x 990 mm dimensions and an 82 kg dry weight, with a backbone frame and 2.25-17 front tyre. Its spec page gives a 35 mm ground clearance, which is clearly a typo, so we have left that blank. The fuel tank is listed as 10.0 litres on Super Power's site but 8.5 litres on PakWheels, so we have left it blank too.

Fuel economy and running costs

Super Power advertises 70 km per litre. PakWheels lists 47 km/l. Treat both as rough guides. Service parts largely follow the CD 70 pattern and are inexpensive.

Variants and price

Super Power's website shows the SP 70 Chrome Edition, SP 70 Dollar, SP 70 Premium Self Start with alloy rims and SP 70 Deluxe, all without prices. PakWheels lists the SP 70 at Rs 116,500 and the SP Dollar 70 at Rs 109,000. We found no dated official price announcement, so confirm the current price with a dealer.

Running costs in rupees

At PakWheels' listed 47 km/l, 1,000 km uses about 21 litres, roughly Rs 8,300 at Rs 391.30 per litre. Super Power's own 70 km/l claim would mean about Rs 5,600, but that is a brochure figure, not a measured one.

Most consumables, such as brake shoes, chain kits, cables and bulbs, follow the common 70cc pattern and are cheap. Ask the dealer about warranty terms and where the nearest authorised workshop is before you buy.

Resale and who should buy it

Resale is weaker than for Honda and the larger Chinese-brand names. Buy an SP 70 if a local dealer you trust offers a good price and service. Otherwise United's US 70 and Road Prince's RP 70 have clearer, officially announced prices.
