Is the AXK 909 Helmet DOT Certified?
The rear of our camouflage unit carries a printed sticker reading "909 DOT FMVSS No.218 CERTIFIED" and a holographic ICC sticker. The gloss black / yellow unit carries one reading "900 DOT FMVSS No.218". The two rear shells and spoiler plates look identical, so this may be one model with two sticker codes, or two models; the supplier has not told us which. It matters because the US rule asks the label to carry the helmet's "precise model designation" (49 CFR 571.218), so a label that names a different model from the helmet is worth noticing. ICC is the name of the holographic import-clearance sticker used for helmets in the Philippines; we cannot look this one up, so we claim nothing from it.
Be clear about what that means. A DOT sticker is the manufacturer's own claim that the helmet meets the US FMVSS 218 standard. We have not lab-tested any helmet, and Pakistani law prescribes no helmet standard, so nobody checks these stickers at import (Pakistan Safety Council).
